For a month or so now, my iPhone has been playing my audiobooks out of order. Can you for ONE SECOND imagine how annoying that was? Every time a new chapter of Stephen King’s On Writing finished (every 7 minutes or so), I’d have to stop playback, go back to the list of tracks, remember which one I just listened to and manually play the next track. Friggen lame.
Well, daddio handled the fix for you ladies and gents. Simply go to one of your regular music playlists or artists, and turn the shuffle feature on and off a couple of times. BLAMMO! Fixed.
You’re welcome and goodnight.

It worked! I was going mad trying to figure this one out. Thx Tons!
You are AWESOME! I’ve been constantly changing my ID tags and resyncing the iPhone trying to figure out how to fix it. Now to get the last 5 hours of my life back…
just spent the last hour trying to figure this out .. THANKS
Wow! Wired fix but it works! Thanks for sharing.
Omg thank you. But really stupid bug!
oh. my. goodness. this was driving me crazy! it only happened with my free audiobooks downloaded from my local library, not the ones from audible, so i contacted the digital media help desk to no avail. thanks so much for posting this simple (but nearly impossible to discover on one’s own) fix! :o)
OMG. Huge friggin’ bug. Thanks, I would have smashed the phone in another day.
Thank you!!! It was driving me mad and I was wondering if I needed to go back to iTunes to check the id3 tags or something. That was a lifesaver!!!
At least in the current version of iTunes , you can hilight your audiobook files, (in Windows) right-click and choose Get Info. On the Options tab, you have a handful of options you can set and one of them is “Skip when shuffling”. Check that box and it should avoid the shuffle problem entirely.
Unfortunately, at least for my computer, whenever I sync my phone, it turns my audiobooks back into ‘music’ files and ungroups them.
