Crowd Sourcing A Feature Film

Save Blue Like Jazz

I have a friend called Don who wrote a book called Blue Like Jazz. The book was a very important one for a disillusioned subculture, and subsequently had eruptive success – spanning the globe and ending up on the New York Times Bestseller list for, like, a hundred years.

Well, this guy, Don, and some friends have been trying to make a movie out of the book for, like, an hundred years – they pushed, and built, and wrote, and called, and dug deep to put all the material and funding together. And they did it!

But then the economy did what it did and a lot of the money disappeared. End of story. Psych!

Crowd Sourcing A Feature Film

Don and his film-guy crew-dudes took to the internet… well, actually, the internet took to them. Some avid fans started up a crowd sourcing effort to raise the money they needed.

That’s cute, right? Well, it got a lot f’kin cuter – They raised, like, a shit-ton of money in 3 days.

To be specific: 3,605 people have raised $278,203 to make this movie. UNBELIEVABLE, right!?? It’s the first crowd sourced feature film. It’s the record breaking project at kickstarter.com. Pretty f’kin cool.

Get Your Head In The Game!

So, I’m letting you know that the project is taking donations until 11:59EDT tonight.

You should totally donate – something, anything. $20. $40. $400. Whatever. You get to be a part of an amazing story (and you may also get into the credits!).
