Here’s a song I wrote & recorded about 6 years ago. I just called it sad song at the time, because it had a sad sound.
This might be one of the songs I’m most proud about. I love the way it sounds, the minimal recording, all the space between the instruments. I hacked so many things about the recording and just kinda ended up with these sounds.
For example, I rolled up a wad of paper towels and put them under the bass strings near the bridge to get the thumpy-flatness of the bass. Also, I used the floor tom as the kick drum and only used a mic or two at a distance to cover all the drums.
One day I’ll re-record some of these tracks and try to put some new life into them…
