Basecamp Tip: Store all logins in private message

I have lots and lots of projects in Basecamp, my project management tool of choice. Many are active projects, and lots more are archived projects.

Often times a year or more after a project is complete, a client will come asking for this or that or the other and I’ll need to login to the server, wordpress, or something else.

So, I’ve devised a little practice to help me quickly, painlessly, and securely access those logins: I put all the relevant logins, urls, passwords, etc., into a new message with the title Logins, Etc. and make it private (so basecamp puts a little red box next to this message, also, so no one but me can access it). See the pic:

Done and done. Very simple. No more hunting through “which message was it in again?” or searching, or anything beyond click and done.

Do you have any lil’ practices you employ on basecamp? Let me know. I’m interested.
