I startup new WordPress sites all the time and it’s always a pain to build out some sample posts, put in images, add things like headings, lists, etc. to style. So I built a simple pre-populated database with a little help from WP Candy’s sample post collection.
If you don’t know what i’m talking about right now… it’s best to stay away at this point.
What’s inside:
- custom table prefix for security:
r33v35_ - sample posts with images
- sample comments (from admin and non-admin)
- easily find-replaceable site elements (See instructions)
- a few sample pages
- typography page shows a bunch of typography elements to style
- better default settings (allow XML-RPC, disallow emoticons, etc.)
- custom permalink structure =>
/%year%/%postname%/
How to use it:
- Make sure your $table_prefix in wp_config.php is set to
r33v35_or your own custom table prefix (see option below) - find and replace “Reeves WP DB Template” > Site Name
- find and replace “reeveswpdbtemplate.local” > Site URL
- find and replace “youremail@email.com” > Admin Email Address
- Username & Password
- default is: useruser, passwordpassword. You can login with and change from within WP or change in Database
- find and replace useruser > your username
- find and replace
9dbb300e28bc21c8dab41b01883918eb> your Md5 generated password
- default is: useruser, passwordpassword. You can login with and change from within WP or change in Database
- (optional): find and replace wp_table prefix:
r33v35_> Your Table Prefix - After you’ve got it all setup you’ll need to go into WP Admin > Settings > Permalinks and click save real quick (who knows why?)
Download it:
So, if you’ve got the phpmyadmin or shell skillz, let em rip and Download the Reeves WP DB Template

You WordPress geeks scare me. I really long to have your skillz, but I don’t. Therefore I use Blogger.
Oh man… you’ll never look back! It is a bit much to get into it, but, if you have any life online, you’ll be extremely happy when you have.
I’ve wanted to put together how tos on it all for a while, but Wordpress’ community is huge and helpful. Get into it!
